COVID-19 UPDATE - 4/29/20

To our Bowling World Community:

The health and safety of our team and bowling community is our highest priority. I wanted to share the status of stores and some of the actions we are taking to help prevent the spread of covid-19.

First, it’s important to note that nothing is certain, and we are constantly monitoring the situation and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health officials from the 11 states we operate in. We will continue to rely on their expertise to make our decisions.

As some states’ stay at home orders are nearing an end and bowling centers are preparing to open their doors, it is our responsibility develop a plan that puts the health of our community first.

Our 62 locations are all operating inside bowling centers that will likely have reopening dates ranging anywhere from this week to mid-June. This will result in the status of our company being on a case by case basis. We have sat down as a team and decided that we will not ask our employees to go to work before May 18th, however if they are ready to get back to their shops before then, we will allow them to open with limited hours. We still have a responsibility to service our customers, and in the case of leagues will do our best to be there for them.

If you have a specific location you are wondering about, I would advise you to call ahead of your visit to confirm store hours.

Regardless of opening date, the new normal for all Bowling World locations will look something as follows:

  • Strict occupancy limits. Based on store size, we could be limiting to as few as 1 customer in the store at a time.
  • Continue to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet when possible.
  • All employees will be required to wear a cloth face covering and disposable gloves when working with customers.
  • We will try our best, through this shortage, to provide hand sanitizer to employees and customers and encourage frequent use.
  • We ask our customers to please refrain from touching any merchandise without assistance from a Bowling World employee.
  • Increased frequency of cleaning/disinfecting of surfaces, merchandise, and equipment
  • We ask employees and customers to wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, and cover coughs and sneezes.

In addition to the steps listed above, we will ensure that any employees that are either feeling sick themselves or living with a sick family member stay at home. We ask that you do the same.

As the situation continues to develop, one thing will remain the same: All of our decisions will be made with the health and well being of our team, customers, and community as our top priority.

Stay safe,

Jeff McCorvey
