Dark Code

Some bowling balls immediately sink their teeth into the lane in order to provide traction in oil. Others glide through the front part of the lane with ease, saving all their energy for an explosive backend reaction. But, what happens when you have a ball that’s capable of offering both? Well, at Storm, we wanted to find out, and that’s how we came up with the Dark Code - a ball that’s so good, it’s almost evil!

The engineering may be complicated, but the simple truth of the Dark Code is as confidence inspiring as anything else we’ve built to date. Dynamic cores and potent covers build a solid foundation – one enhanced by industry-leading longevity. A superior factory finish signifies its place atop the pecking order. Imposing. Purposeful. This is the kind of ball you look up to.

Traditionally, the term “hybrid” suggests that both solid and pearl components coexist within a coverstock. We saw a better way for hybrids and took it. When we joined R2S™ with NeX™ in the lab, the results exceeded our expectations. In our testing, we discovered that the Dark Code read the midlane slightly sooner than the Code Black™ thanks to its NeX foundation but produced similar backend and entry angle numbers because the chemical porosity of R2S is slightly more compact than NeX. We left nothing to chance with this one. Thus, ReX a.k.a. “Reactor Extreme” was born.

Crankers will discover this type of pearl formulation to be more versatile in average conditions. Tweeners will crave this type of reaction to play to their strengths even on fresh conditions. Strokers gain easy access to power and backend the likes of which are not easily obtained in today’s high-volume environment.

Parallax Effect

This novel Parallax Effect takes to the lanes like a boss, getting you from foul line to head pin with confidence and ease. With potency that looks out for you when tough oil conditions abound, this fast-moving tech keeps up with you showing off standout style that looks good on and off the rack.

Since making its debut on the Parallax, TractionX7 has made its fair share of waves. Combining seven of our best coverstock characteristics was a towering challenge, but our R&D team stood up to the task. TractionX7 headlines the durability of TX-16, the backend of R2S, and the slower oil absorption rates of SPEC. Simply put, there’s versatility encased in TractionX7’s genome that stays put for as long as it stays in your bag.

The Aeroflo Core renders a higher innate radius of gyration than the typical Storm asymmetric design thanks to the ellipsed hole in the center of the design. When the thumb hole is placed in this enclosure of lightweight core material, the post drilled RG numbers aren’t affected as greatly as its other top-shelf asymmetric counterparts. Simply put: it maintains its dynamics through multiple drilling combinations. Being driller and user friendly is extremely important today with the elimination of balance holes in our sport. Drillers are no longer able to tweak a ball’s reaction characteristics after the fact. The Aeroflo Core easily accepts many different layout combinations to fit any style of bowler.

Tropical Surge

Our beloved Tropical line has evolved again! The all-new Surge Core, with a boosted differential paired with our dependable Reactor formula will give you the curve you've been craving for. Six exciting colors and fragrances will appeal to just about anybody.

COVERSTOCK
In use for over a decade, the Reactor coverstock is still going strong. When something has been this successful there is no reason to get rid of it. Reactor material is moderately aggressive, but still offers a fair amount of control without over-reacting on the backend.

CORE
The Surge Core breathes new life into the Tropical Line. Boasting an improved differential from its Camber Core predecessor, the Surge Core is sure to turn the corner harder and more dependably in this long-running series. Entry level bowlers will love the bang for the buck this shape brings.

Hy-Road

Power in every shot. Purpose in every ball. For seven years, the Hy-Road has exemplified this. The hitting power is unmistakable in the Inverted Fe2 Technology with its heightened coefficient of restitution. The R2S Hybrid Reactive has become pillar of consistency utilized in some of Storm’s most successful balls in recent history.

R2S is synonymous with some of the most successful balls in recent history like the Hy-Road, Frantic, and the IQ Tour. It is renowned for clearing the front part of the lane with an unprecedented movement on the backend. The consistency of this shell through the heads is something to be marveled at.

Inverted Fe2 technology boasts a higher RG and differential like most other balls in the Thunder Line, but with one very important benefit: it lacks the core material that most other balls have. This enables the ball to have a much thicker shell which raises the coefficient of restitution. A higher energy transfer to the pins with less deflection upon impact is what can be expected with this design.

Hy-Road Max

The Hy-Road Max features the Inverted Fe2 weight block which has a higher RG orientation, making this ball more resistant to changing direction as it travels down the lane.  Then add the NeX coverstock first featured on the Axiom™, the newest touchstone from which all other balls are compared. The finishing touches clock in at 3000-grit Abralon, which has become the benchmark standard of surface profiles. As you can see, there’s more to every ball than meets the eye.

Trend 2

Incite

The Incite bridges the gap between strong asymmetric cores and traditional symmetric cores.  The new Tensor core with the R4S Hybrid coverstock at 3000 grit finish will give strong midlane hook and backend on medium to heavy oil.

The Tensor Core forms a multi-dimensional array with a uniform typethat creates opposing torque forces on an asymmetric map. The product resembles a stronger, more powerful symmetric core model that blends the line between top-drawer asymmetric and the more traditional symmetric approach thanks to a modest touch of asymmetry between the Y and Z axes.

R4S has the highest reactivity of any Reactor™ series cover and bridges the gap between midrange Thunder™ Line and high-end Premier™ Line balls. Being a hybrid formulation, users can expect a wide array of benefits to be found on a multitude of conditions.
